Grub Control In Worcester County
Unfortunately, no matter how well you care for your lawn, there will always be a variety of diseases, conditions, and pests ready to destroy your hard work. One of the biggest lawn threats comes from a surface insect called a grub. Don’t let the size of this lawn pest fool you. These small c-shaped beetles bury deep beneath your soil’s surface and can cause massive lawn damage. After seeking out a cozy spot deep within, grubs lay their eggs. Once hatched, the larvae feast on everything in sight, including your lawn’s roots. Too big of an infestation, and your roots will wither and die.
Symptoms of grub damage can often mimic other lawn conditions but typically include:
- Brown patches
- Wilting grass
- Soft spongy grass when you walk on it
- Damage caused by or sightings of moles, raccoons, or skunks
While a healthy, well-cared-for lawn is better able to withstand a grub infestation, here in Worcester County, a grub preventive is highly recommended. The damage caused by grubs can be quite costly. At Great Lawns Plus, we utilize a mix of two insect controls, one for surface insects such as chinch bugs and one for grubs. Also included in our grub control preventive treatment is calcium to help raise the pH levels.
